The Aber valley Communties Partnership was formed just over four years ago. The partnership gives local people the opportunity to get involved in improving their areas and prospects and involves everyone working together to identify and address their community problems, deciding themselves what is needed and ensure they last. Communities First has also opened up further opportunities to bring in funding and support from a range of sources. The partnership is made up of a range of people the backbone of which are the hard working volunteers who make up the resident membership of the partnership. Working together with local agencies such as Caerphilly CBC, Gwent Police, GAVO, Groundwork, Local Health Board,Ystrad Mynach College and many more the non political partnership strives to move forward together. The Aber Valley partnership have achieved a great deal over the last four years for example the Windsor Colliery site which includes the magnificent memorial to the miners who died in the Windsor Colliery. The refurbishment of the Abertridwr square with installation of CCTV cameras at Senghenydd Square. The partnership are currently working with other agencies on the refurbishment of the Senghenydd Square and the installation of a Skateboard Park. Installation of a water play feature which will replace the defunct paddling pool, and the Universal project at Senghenydd Community Centre. The partnership have an office which is based in the Senghenydd Community Centre and is open to all for help and advise and provides a base for the CF Co-ordinators and volunteers alike. In 2002 with the introduction of Communities First, the Aber Valley Area forum reformed as the Communities First Partnership extending the opportunity to get local people involved for the area.
