On Wednesday 3rd September from 10am to 4pm thefirst Caerphilly 'Employment Expo' will be held at Ystrad Mynach College.
The Employment Expo is the result of a partnership arrangement between
Caerphilly County Borough Council, Ystrad Mynach College and Jobcentre Plus as well as agencies involved in the 'Inactivity Beacon' project. The Expo will incorporate a Jobs Fair attended by major national and local employers together with agencies from the public, private and voluntary sector who will be on hand to offer support, advice and guidance to people wishing to enter / re-enter employment, volunteering or learning. First hand assistance will be provided in the form of the following surgeries which have been designed to help people on a one-to-one basis with the following:
How to prepare a CV and complete an application form
Interview techniques
Presentation skills
Debt and benefit advice
How to manage your money
The Expo will also include opportunities to take part in hair and beauty makeovers, construction taster sessions, cookery demonstrations, driving taster sessions, art andcraft workshops as well as a workwear / interview fashion show.
The Event is open to all residents but especially those who are currently
unemployed and living within the areas of St James, St Cattwg's, Pengam, Hengoed, Aber Valley and Cefn Fforest - from which there will be free transport provided. A creche (ages 10 months to 8 years) will also be available for people attending the event and taking part in any of the one-to-one surgeries mentioned above.
